WHEN COMFORT RHYMES WITH QUIETNESS |
Among the criteria that became a priority in the yacht and megayacht design, we must count the on board comfort. Besides performances and costs, it is on this characteristic that the added value of a boat is measured; constructors and ship-owners have to hold this into account as from the design phase.
On big boats the noise and the vibrations are factors that can negatively influence the livability of on board environments.
The noise that can be perceived on boats can be aerial or structural.
The more penetrating type is the structural one, caused by the vibrations that are propagated in the hull in vertical direction, towards the deck and they are transmitted among the premises of the boat.
The structural noise can turn out particularly annoying, in the areas in which the hosts spend a lot of time standing or lying down.
The disadvantage of the structural noise cannot that to be prevented with various design precautions, as the floating pavements or the viscoelastic supports.
The aerial noise, instead, uses the air as a propagation means and is mainly perceived in the place in which the source of the noise is. It is typical of the premises destined to accommodate the on board machinery as also the conditioning and refrigeration systems. In these cases, it is necessary to isolate the noise source using specific materials.
Frigomar “series 410” chillers with relative fancoils are equipped with innovative soundproof panels able to reducing lessened the noise, transforming part of it in heat, in order to add the benefit of the quietness to the air conditioning comfort.
